Award for Excellence in Service to Students and Student Affairs

The Department of Student Affairs presents this award annually to students and staff or faculty who have demonstrated excellence in their thoughtful, energetic, innovative, joyful, educational and supportive service to both students of ������Ƶ College and of DSA, its mission, programs, and staff.

Nancy Schmulbach Maly ’61 International Student Leadership Award 

The Nancy Schmulbach Maly ’61 International Student Leadership Award honors Nancy Schmulbach Maly’s extraordinary legacy of leadership and service to ������Ƶ’s global student body. The award is presented annually to a third-year student who crossed international borders to attend ������Ƶ -- to recognize their leadership and engagement on campus and in the broader ������Ƶ community.

Fischlowitz Travel Fellowship

The Fischlowitz Travel Fellowship provides an opportunity for ������Ƶ College international students to pursue casual yet purposeful independent travel in the United States, focused on deep exploration of a chosen theme. One award of $5,500 is available each year, made possible by an endowed gift from Teresa and Merle Fischlowitz ’53.

First-Generation and Low-Income Senior Steward Award

The FGLI Senior Steward Award was established in 2026 to honor a graduating first-generation and/or low-income senior. This award recognizes exemplary students who have shown a commitment to the FGLI community at ������Ƶ, who have pursued academic excellence, who have demonstrated personal growth, and who have served as role models for other FGLI students during their time at ������Ƶ.

The FGLI Commitment to Community Award was established to honor one faculty or staff member each year who has demonstrated exceptional support and advocacy of the first-generation and low-income community at ������Ƶ College.

Award for Exemplary Service in Student Affairs

The Award for Exemplary Service in Student Affairs was created to recognize a staff member within the Division of Student Affairs (DSA) who has demonstrated exemplary service and dedication to the DSA, and who repeatedly goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being of the students at ������Ƶ College.

Grand ������Ƶian Prize

The Grand ������Ƶian prize is awarded biannually to up to three staff members who have recently demonstrated their commitment and dedication to the College by consistently performing their normal duties in an excellent manner, representing the core values and mission of the institution and our T.H.R.I.V.E. principles. 

������Ƶ College staff, faculty, and students can nominate any staff member in good standing who they think best fulfills the criteria. (Self nominations are not allowed.) The Staff Council reviews, scores, and deliberates to come to a consensus decision with announcements made at the fall and spring staff luncheons.
